Wanted cartel drug lord leader Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman may have been back in Mexico. Media networks reported that he was trying to escape from federal agents after he was identified at a car crash site in Macuspana, Tabasco. The person who survived when the van hit a car in one of the town's major streets was immediately rushed to the hospital, according to the Latin Times.

Eyewitnesses have confirmed the reports that the drug lord was at the crash site and then sent to the hospital. Although the federal troops were notified about the incident, they arrived too late at the Hospital Regional de Macuspana, because the patient immediately left the hospital upon arrival.

Fourteen Mexican soldiers were seen at the hospital that secured the area upon arrival in two military pick up trucks. The Mexican federal police followed in what the witnesses say as "an unusual operation."

However, the hospital's director confirmed that the person being treated was not "El Chapo," CNN News reported. The director did not release any other information regarding the identity of the patient.

Guzman's arrest in the resort town of Mazatlan in Mexico was one of the greatest victories of Mexican and American authorities. He was only in prison for only 17 months before he was able to escape through a one-mile tunnel under his shower which would have taken four people and at least a year to dig through, according to the Inquisitr.

There have been many reported sightings of Guzman since he escaped in July. He was thought to be "outed" in a tweet by his son, Alfredo. Alfredo is in a photograph with two men, one of whom seems to be "El Chapo," and the location is set as Costa Rica.
